Queries Sent to Search Partners
A name, location, or other term entered in a search tool is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Columbia County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's rules govern its handling of the query.
Messages Sent to Us
Information included in an email or contact submission is retained as needed to read and answer the message. We do not share those messages outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Technical Data and Cookies
Routine technical information may be recorded when a page loads. It can include:
- the visitor's IP address;
- browser name and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages opened and time spent on them;
- the referring site, when one is supplied; and
- timestamps associated with the visit.
Cookie Controls
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site and support some features. A browser can reject or delete cookies. Blocking them may change how certain tools or page functions behave.
How Information Supports the Site
Collected information may be used to:
- keep pages available and responsive;
- send a search request to the selected partner;
- understand which Columbia County resources visitors use;
- detect and correct technical problems; and
- display advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
Services Beyond Our Domain
Links may lead to sheriff and corrections pages, government release records, court portals, federal locators, or outside search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, that destination's privacy terms apply. Columbia County Released Inmates does not control the destination's collection or use of information.
Some advertising providers may use their own technology to understand activity across websites and select targeted ads. That tracking occurs through the provider's systems and is governed by its policy.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may nevertheless be handled by:
- search partners that process submitted queries;
- analytics providers that measure site traffic;
- advertising networks that deliver or assess ads; and
- law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Security Is a Shared Limit
Reasonable administrative and technical practices are used to protect information. No internet-connected service, transmission method, or storage system is completely secure. We cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contact Us page to request deletion.
Choices About Personal Data
Subject to applicable law and the limits of the data held, a visitor may ask to:
- receive a copy of personal information retained here;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- erase information when deletion is available; or
- opt out of certain processing.
Search terms sent directly to a partner must be addressed with that provider because this site does not retain them.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be revised as site practices, providers, or legal duties change. An updated version takes effect when posted here with a new effective date.
